LWA Community season finale 2024
On this last Saturday in September, it feels like we're coming home. So many people here that we know and so much joy at the start. And so much water, because on this morning, September 28, 2024, the Nahe is roaring unusually loudly at the weir in front of the Nahe-Alsenz-Eck campsite as we arrive at our end-of-season location.
We that is the LWA team's end-of-season delegation, consisting of Sebastian, Willi, Jochen and Cora. And we are warmly welcomed here at the campsite by the many lovely, familiar faces from the LWA community, some of whom have been here since the evening before and whom we have been able to take with us on our adventures again and again over the last few months (and years).
And as always, we are warmly welcomed by Christoph, the operator of the site and a reliable partner of many years at this location, which is already so familiar to us.
We are very slow to get from the entrance to the water and that's a good thing. So many people to greet. Wow, how many are here already. And there should be many more! We are all in for a wonderful weekend, as we had already anticipated during the preparations when more and more registrations started to trickle into our inbox.
And it will have been a wonderful weekend in the end. Countless conversations, more packrafts than ever before at the same time on the Nahe - which, with its higher water level, was not without its challenges for beginners - fantastic pizza creations and lots of campfire romance made the whole thing another super enjoyable day for us. In particular, the positive vibes that could be felt throughout the entire course on both days gave us a wonderful feeling going into the off-season after a really wild season - which was talked about extensively at the campfire slide show.
Of course, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank our long-standing partners who supported us again at the end of the 2024 season (and not just here):
Thanks to Christoph and Dorothee from the Nahe-Alsenz-Eck campsite for their hospitality during the Nahe day course season, during the end-of-season event and just generally for the great, trusting and good cooperation!
Thanks to Anfibio Packrafting Store, Choco del Sol and Walk on the wild side for the great prizes that we were able to give away to participants in our annual end-of-season raffle. As every year, we donated the proceeds from this raffle. This time, the proceeds of €505 (thanks to our participants!), rounded up by LWA to a total of €550, went to UNICEF for emergency aid for children in Gaza, a project that one of our tour participants accompanied as a doctor on site for a few weeks.
The sun rising into the morning mist on Sunday morning could not have provided a better transition into the approaching fall.
Once again, it was simply wonderful to spend these days together and we are already looking forward to next year!
